7 Safety Fundamentals

Personal Protective Equipment

The safety of all FORVIA employees is a priority for the company.
This is reaffirmed with the sixth Safety Fundamental regarding Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE).

To carry out different activities in the office or the production floor,
the use of mandatory PPE for each area must be considered:

• Safety shoes are mandatory on the production floor and in logistics areas. Only visitors are allowed to wear toe caps.

• High visibility vests are mandatory in logistics areas and if driving transport vehicles.

• An anti-shock cap must be worn during any start-up, maintenance, and repair activities, including robot training.

• Cut resistant gloves should be worn when working with metal blades or panels.
• Anti-cut sleeves must be assessed based on the risk assessment.
• Anti-cutting sleeves should be evaluated according to the risk assessment.

• For the use of safety glasses, the requirement must be defined according to the plant's HSE risk analysis. They can be mandatory for several tasks, workstations, GAPs, or UAPs, for the entire production area or a specific site or division. Prescription glasses with side protection are not authorized.

• Other PPE needs must be defined according to the risk analysis, for example: protective cap, gloves, sleeves, face protectors, caps, safety vests, protection against electric arc, etc.

• All PPE requirements must be displayed at each workstation or area and all employees must be fully trained on how to use their PPE correctly. They must be used, maintained, and stored properly.

• All PPE should be checked at the start of the shift or before use and replaced when necessary.

• Contractors must have their own PPE and must be identifiable.

Safety is a collective responsibility, where each of us has a role to play. Let us encourage a safety culture through the correct management of risk
situations inside and outside our facilities.
